Broadway Arts Festival
Community...

The Vision
The sustainable creation of a biennial Festival to celebrate Broadway’s Artistic heritage in Fine Arts, Music, Drama, Dance, Arts and Crafts; with the intention of contributing to the Arts locally, regionally and nationally.
To raise aspirations for local children and young people and their families and make Broadway a significant destination for the Arts.

The Festival is not just about the activities during the week. Several activities will involve village residents in the weeks and months leading up to the Festival.

A lot of exciting community activities are in the pipeline.

We have displays to enjoy and to create:
  • a flower festival encompassing the five churches in Broadway
  • an art competition for professionals
  • an art competition for young people
  • a display of competition entries
  • a display of archival photos depicting Broadway 'then' and now

Activities in partnership with our schools will include:

  • work with a resident artist in both primary schools
  • after school rehearsals and a production of a play by acclaimed children's author Hugh Brewster
  • taster music workshops at the primary school plus an after school workshop at the youth club on music of the period, including improvisation, composition and a little 'performance slot' in one of our evening concerts
  • a DVD on Broadway that will be produced in advance by secondary school students and shown during the festival

Of course, during the festival week we have some fun activities in store:

  • a family fun day on the final Saturday of the festival, hopefully to include a procession by the children of the village
  • a village party for all to enjoy
In addition to this many of the ticketed events are being organised by community members, who are giving freely of their time. There will be opportunities for people of all ages to volunteer, whether it be helping to organise an event, taking tickets, helping with refreshments, or showing people around our gorgeous village. If you would like to volunteer, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
